its your connection to the server. FEAR is a garbage online game with garbage servers, so don't mess with it. your best bet is to play on servers located in australia. the server menu should display your ping for most servers. lower ping the better. as long as its under 100 you're fine. if its 800 and i was playing with you, i'd kill you.

No.
The speed of a connection determines how many bits of information can be sent or received in a given period of time (usually measured in bits per second or bytes per second). The ping of a connection determines how long that data takes to go from point A to point B (usually measured in milliseconds). Personally, under 100ms is pretty good and under 50ms is great. If it goes over about 200ms, you really start noticing the lag whether you're the one lagging or someone else is lagging. |

When looking for servers in the server browser, sort by ping and only pick the ones under 100ms. If you can filter by a ping limit, set the max ping to 100. Of course, you could go with whatever ping you want and the popularity of the game or mode might make you want to accept higher pings, but most of the time 100ms should be just fine.
