Finished With Your Computer?
When your done with you computer what do you do after?
Do you shut it down? Etc etc. I leave my computer on and set the power option to away, witch turns screen off. So people what do you do?

Well usually during the day I leave it on and it goes to sleep but when I got to sleep I turn it off and turn it back on in the morning

I leave mine on 24/7 because I like to have immediate access when I get on and I like to be easy to contact. Sometimes something happens like my server crashing while I'm AFK and someone sends me an IM about it for me to see when I get on, so that's the fastest way for me to notice and get it back up ASAP.
I usually turn off my monitors (with Screen Saver Control) when I go AFK, but my CRT takes so long to warm up now (about 1 or 2 minutes) that I don't like doing it when I'm gone for only a few minutes. Fortunately I also have an LCD, so it's not completely unusable at first, just stuff like Mumble or my task bar which I keep on the CRT for monitoring while mostly using the LCD for games and Firefox. I also don't let my PC sleep because that turns off some hardware necessary to stay online on IM, such as the hard drives.

Putting your PC on on standby then starting your pc back up again uses more electricity than an hour of idle usage.

I shut mine down, not that I want to. It's just that if I don't I know that my mother will come in and do it herself.
I attempt to leave it on with the monitor off at times, but then she seems to think that something is wrong with the computer and unplugs its power supply.

i usually shut it down at night but its on all day. then i take the HDMI cable, plug it out of the TV I have it hooked up to and plug the one in for my dish(my video card hooks up with a DVI>HDMI.

Well, I have a laptop, and it is always on. Unless...I am traveling in the car or something...But When I am finished, I just close it, and open it when I need to. By the way, hi people who remember me at all, I don't visit much, But I used to be addicted to this forum, and it's nice to stop by every once in a while. But I really want a username change, then maybe I'll visit more, but I would not know how to accomplish that, by the way, Hi Lkr! :D Nice to see you again
