Carefully.
I'd try a paper towel and window cleaner. But I'm sure it came with a manual. Check that. Also, perhaps a qtip. On another note, lkr, even the cheapest useful optical mice are $20+, and not everyone is rich.

I have cats, so I regularly need to pull/blow out a strand or two of hair, but I never actually bother with cleaning the lens. If I did I'd probably just use a Kleenex.

I was playing online yesterday and I was asking people what I could use and the majority of them said with Compressed air.

Sounds like a plan. Have an air compressor or a really good super soaker?
Also, walk into a real life store lkr, they're not cheap.
