Red Fraction/TS are two different developers. Try comparing games of the same -- for example, MGS2/3. I can't really see a huge difference in graphics design. And I don't think they reused the same engine, correct me if I'm wrong.

FFX - FXII, again, I don't see a huge difference. Looks the same to me.

Although not a huge amount of difference, I do think MGS3 has improved graphics over MGS2. While on that topic, completed MGS3 today. Awesome game, awesome game...
