People have things for reading books, playing sprts, having fun time etc. But our prefered past time is playing video games.

There's no such thing as "too much computer or games" as far as I'm concerned. I'm a geek, I see "nerd" as an offensive term, but based on the dictionary I'll need to say I'm in the middle because I'm mostly accomplished in technical pursuits but not really socially inept (big thanks to chat and TeamSpeak and the thing called "growing up").

its great to be a nerd because then you can make fun of yourself and not be offended by it and most people think its funny...

I swear dictionary.com was just hacked, the definition of "geek" is closer to what "nerd" should be and I found out "computer geek" says weird things like "One who eats
(computer) bugs for a living". Lots of techie people (smart, I might add) proudly consider themselves geeks.
Wikipedia has it right, "A geek is a person who is fascinated, perhaps obsessively, by technology and imagination", it even compares "geek" to "nerd". Hopefully that clears up the confusion between the two.
