First time I saw him was when I watched the E3 Insider FanCam videos during/after E3 2004. I didn't even think about the guy that did the voice of Mario until I noticed he was going on camera. It also shows how he controls a 3D Mario on a big screen welcoming people to the Nintendo part of E3, it's sweet stuff.

Go to http://www.e3insider.com/e3now.htm and on the left under the FanCam logo, scroll about half way and there's 2 links for Mario.
