You and GNU :P

Gimp is pretty powerful for a free paint program, I have to admit. It's a lot better than ANYTHING I've seen come out for windows in freeware, that's for sure.

Ironically, it's a paint program for people who are good at math or who are programmers. There's nothing really friendly about it to art guys like myself, as it caters to a more analytical thought process rather than intuition. Having used photoshop since version 3, I'd have to say there is no better professional tool on the planet, but for it's price, it'd better be y'know?

Hmmm is it really that hard? Because I showed my teacher at my course (the new gimp 2.2 released just a while ago) and she seemed very impressed with all it could do and how easy it was...... though perhaps creating scripts/plugins takes a programmer? But I'm sure that's the same for photoshop :)

Writing actionscript in photoshop simply requires you actually perform what you want the program to do autonomously as if you were doing it yourself, very much like programming a macro by showing it what to do instead of telling it.

I don't think you quite understand my point with photoshop and gimp, one is made for artists, the other is made for programmers. What I mean by intuition, is how hard it is for someone without an analytical thought process to produce what they can see in their mind given the tools and filters that are available to them.

Programmers use one side of their brain, artists use the other. Photoshop facilitates both, but caters more to the non-technical person.

Hmmm okay then, I just found photoshop to technical looking and confusing, plus the fact that it cost's far too much for a legal copy, and then I'm not allowed to be a good friend and share it with people who need it.... Most of the people in my class I'm guessing just pirate it, which I don't care about.... but I was talking to a guy on irc who was doing a design course and he said that his course require to use photoshop and then check to make sure that they all have valid license's at home, a student just can't afford that.

Anyhow, back to how old people are ? haha, kinda got off topic :\ sorry.

I can't wear my Live Strong band here in Los Angeles anymore, they're just waaaay too trendy, especially since they've got a band for everything now. Red ones for redsox, blue ones for tsunami, green ones for military, and lighter red "hope" bands...

I liked it when only a few people had the LS bands, and you'd spot others wearing them and give eachother the proverbial nod of agreement, as if to say, "I have lost someone to cancer too, but we're making a difference."

Now it's a fashion statement :(

Okay, I'm going to be a bit of a bastard (this might not work though, depends if OSX has the right stuff installed) fire up terminal and "import -root window ~/screenshot.png" that should do it if the correct software is installed :P

If not then their is probably some graphical tool to do it? (There is in KDE & I think OSX use's some stuff from kde, I know they use KHTML).

Otherwise if you have the BSD developer tools installed I think they contain gcc so you could compile imagemagik and install it, then type that command again...... or you could let me ssh in to your machine and do it for you :P Oh the joys of UNIX & GNU
