Well, is she an online gal pal, or one of those long distance kind that moved?
In either case, nothing says how much you care better than making her something yourself and sending it her way. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money, the fact that you did something should really say a lot to her in today's hallmark consumer society. You have to remember you're a guy, and we're really not expected to do all that much, so when we "do" do something, women tend to really get impressed.

My girlfriend lives in town, but she's at school, far away... I make an effort to send her something small (mix CD/ video CD) every so often. I got an ecard and a real card ready to go, but sending anything big is a pian (cost more to send then it does to buy) so i'm gonna see if i can get her some flowers... I went all out for Christmas, and I got something for her grad. Still, I want to do something nice. Long distance relationship's are hard, but she's back in town in April. I think I may buy an NDS, the same day I go to pick her up (waiting until after exams). Hard to tell which i'm waiting for most... ;)

Well, an NDS isn't cheap, so make sure she would really use it before you get it for her! As for the flowers, she should really like that, maybe even some candies to go along with it, girls love Godiva chocolates and they're as low as 20 bux for a sampler pack.
My girl used to live in San Jose, and moved in with me last year. It was rough during the holidays as you are learning, but things work out if both people are devoted to making it work. Last Valentine's day, I sent my girl a hand drawn eCard of her cat, and shipped her a Ralph Lauren necklace for evenings out. Total cost, 55 bux including shipping.

i got my girl a DS back when i got mine...trust me she will love it..plus when it goes online u can play wit her...my girl always wants 2 play mario or draw in picto chat wit me, since u only need one game to play its easy( she always beats me in mario) ...but 4 vday..im not sure.. we live 2gether so i can give her sumthin that doesnt cost anyting and is great for both of us ;-) ( u olders guys know what i mean.)
