Why lock threads? This is a forum, not a Q&A.

It gets me a little more than pissed off when interesting topics are closed because they are "answered". Why the hell have a forum? I admit allot of people repeat things and take credit for answers that were actually stated on previous pages, but that is the nature of humans in this environment, there are allot of idiots in this world. However this is a forum and topics are meant to be discussed, that may mean they go on forever, but they should be left to die in their own time.

Sooo can we please not let peoples trolling and plagiarism affect this forum in that way??

That would be one approach to moderating a forum. Y moderate it at all? Freedom of Speach!

There is also one more side to it. If you for example wanted to find out what is the best game would you like to read 25 pages discussion on y bunnies r cute just to find out what u were looking for? We try not to luck threads and instead encourage to stay on topic. Sometimes though it gets terribly out of hand.

Flaming threads will be locked with out an exception.

And i locked the thread *stlyus one* because i can see it going out of hand. I will lock it if it does.

I lock or in worst case delete a thread (havent done that yet) If the thread has been before, or people are fighting. It's beeing locked to prevent it to stay at the top, is there any point of having 2-5 topics about exactly the same in the wrong forum section? No.

I understand topics breaking rules will be closed. I also understand topics that are full of irrelevant post should be moderated, but can't you just delete the irrelevant posts and warn the member who made them? It would sure make a more enjoyable forum.

I am just suggesting that locking a topic isnt the best answer on a forum, unless the topic is breaking rules or full of crap. In which case there is no harm in just deleting it.

I enjoy a good arguement though, the other forum that I spend a bit of time in (gentoo) there is usually always some big fight going on between us leftwing people & the rightwinger's...... usually we're arguing something like Bush is taking peoples freedom away and trying to force his beliefs on the pubilc which is against the American constitution, and the rightwingers are saying we love Bush, he's God's son & is doing what's best for everyone.

Fights are fun, aslong as someone doesn't just come out and start calling the otherside names.
