So like I downloaded AIM the other day and then when I opened up firefox again my little search bar in the top right does the AOL search and not google.

How do I get it back to google search?

Screw AOL and their retarded and underhanded ways.

That's one reason I generally avoid specialized IM clients, especially from companies I don't like. Trillian doesn't do any of that and I'm sure none of the many open source alternatives would either.

I'm not sure how extensive the problem is, but if it's simple you should be able to click the arrow next to the icon and change the search engine. If it was a complete replacement of the toolbar, try right-clicking and click "Customize...". Also check in Tools > Add-ons.
If none of that helps, maybe try uninstalling AIM, but I sorta doubt that would remove the "malware" or "hijacker" as I like to call that junk.

Anyway, I'm guessing you didn't carefully read over what exactly you were installing. IIrc they offer some type of toolbar or firefox extension or w/e with it. It shouldn't be too hard to remove, as I can guarantee that at least one of pilot's solutions will work. Also try view -> toolbars -> customize, although I think that will have the same effect as right clicking the toolbar itself and clicking customize, so w/e. I don't use any toolbars, myself (except for navigation and bookmarks), and I installed firefox after aim, so I'm not personally familiar with your problem, although it shouldn't be too hard to fix, and at worst you'll end up needing to reinstall the google toolbar.

Btw, is there any particular reason this forum is going through an absolute failmode and making me insert the "br" tags to start a new line (and then screwing up the quotes when I try to edit my post)? It's really quite a hassle and is freaking annoying to have to do when normally I can just tap enter twice to start a new line.
