Critics angered by Sony's Launch stunt

Looking at the larger picture the theory of Audience Needs comes into play. What possessed Sony to provide their very targeted audience(s) a gruesome thing like this? I'm more suprised at Sony thinking that people of the public would actually like to this... it makes me wonder how diverse thier auidence(s) are. To what lengths will thier fans go to celebrate a game. You can people dressed up in Covenant costumes running around the streets of London being killed by journalists armed with guns with purple needles in.

Yeah, there launch party for PS3 was one of the best things ive ever heard of, free 42inch HD TVs for EVERY CUSTOMER? Heh, my uncle got one.. lucky.

If they wanted the schock factor they hit the nail on the head. But I don't think the bad publicity this garners them is truly worth it. I doubt many would think Sony's sick on the whole, but now we do have an inkling that they let the occasional pyscho into their ranks of marketing.
