DS Rumble Pack : First Look

Metroid Prime : Pinball is set to be the first Nintendo DS game to take advantage of the new Rumble Pack. The rumble pack is not new to portable gaming, with GBC games like Pokémon Pinball taking advantage of a small sized rumble pack built into the cart.

This time though, the rumble pack slots into the GBA slot on your DS to allow you to feel every bounce of the ball and every thwack of the flippers. For now, Metroid Pinball is the only announced title to utilize this feature - but seeing as there are no Metroid specific engravings on the rumble pack itself, it seems as if more games in the future will make use of this awesome addition.

Possibly the most surprisingly part is that the rumble pack is a snug fit in the DS's GBA slot - many expected a bulky add on, but this GBA cart sized rumble feature looks superb. The device will not require additional batteries as it will power itself using the DS' internal battery - this may cut playing time by 1 hour maximum - but surely it is worth it. Expect Sony to release the PSP Rumble Pack next week....

There will be more news on Metroid Pinball as we near the release date, so stay tuned to TouchDS.com for first impressions of the rumble pack. Thanks to gameinformer.com for the awesome pictures!

Holy mother of miyamoto. They certainly were thinking ahead with that GBA slot in the cases. Expansions, rumbe packs, and actually being able to secure your GBA games. Can't wait. Loved Pokemon Pinball back in the day.

I don't know how it could get any better, I too was expecting it to protrude at least a tiny bit. I'm just curious how powerful it is because there's not a whole lot of room in a standard GBA cart.

well the bulky part of pokemon pinball was the battery so they are most likey using the same design for that one just removing the exteral battery part of it.

if you have pinball or perfect dark laying around the rumble pak part is the roughly the same size as a gba cart so my piont is that it would be as bout as powerfull as those where.

although you might feel it more since you hands are closer to the rumble pak (as is placed at the bottom not the top)

but id love to see a PSP rumble pak lol

have you see the #D goggle for man is that a laugh and a half

Technology has moved on Darkmatter so it may be more powerful. I just can't see something vibrating while you are trying to control with touch screen very useful. We shall see, shan't we?
