Electroplankton is Coming!

Much as expected, Electroplankton will be coming to the US in early 2006. The current official date is January 6th, making me wonder why they didn't just throw it in the christmas rush. Regardless, I'm sure many of us are itching to try out this "non-game".

Nintendo reveals a limited release for its music creator.

October 24, 2005 - Last week we revealed that the Nintendo website quietly announced a January 9th release date for ElectroPlankton. Though the evidence had been removed since our story went public, the deal's still in, and Nintendo has made the date official with a statement released today. The news: it will only be sold online and at the World of Nintendo store in New York.

Electroplankton will indeed be released on January 9th, 2006 in the US, but will only be available for purchase from major online retailers, as well as the World of Nintendo store and Nintendo.com.

The musical toy will feature all of the ten different modes that put the DS system's touch screen and microphone to use for gamers to create some trippy and occasionally harmonious music.

"Electroplankton represents just one of the many ways that Nintendo is developing new kinds of software to reach new audiences," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Even if you have never played a video game, you can pick it up and start making amazing musical combinations with no instruction."

So, unless you're in NY or love you some online shoppin', you're not going to be seeing this great game(not) in your local game retailer.
