Unless the Wii is coded in such a way that it will only play files with copy protections in place (ie DRM protected files), you could just run an anti-DRM prog on your files to remove the protection, then copy them... once somebody makes a prog to strip Wii-download-games of copy protections.

Nintendo has stated that there will be a way to recover all the digital stuff you've purchased if something happens.

External database you can log into in case of emergency would be good so you could retrieve anything.
