No friend codes on Wii!
I heard this on a podcast from last month on ScrewAttack.com.
Apparently Nintendo is working on a way to eliminate friend codes for Wii games. It would be done by simply sending your Mii to your friends. Since there's millions of different possible combinations, and then slapping a name onto it, the chances of an exact duplicate is almost impossible. I'm assuming just in case, there's a unique code encoded with the Mii too, such as the main Wii friend code or a randomly generated code or even a unique code assigned by one of Nintendo's servers. I'm not exactly sure how much they would expand on it and how well 3rd parties would embrace it, but I have a good idea what their target is, which is to make adding friends a lot easier than before. I haven't heard of this from anywhere else, so it's possible this might not be true, but ScrewAttack looks like a large site with many well-made podcasts so I doubt they would make this stuff up. I'm just surprised I didn't hear about it sooner, considering the podcast went out a month ago and I haven't heard about this anywhere up until I listened to it today . Has anyone else heard of this? Have I been living under a rock the past month? |

Now all we need is for Nintendo to allow sex diseases in Mii's, so if you share your Mii's unprotected, it spreads. What an awesome thing that would be.
But in all seriousness, this is a very cool idea.
