O/T - TouchDS Exclusive Driv3r GBA Screenshots

I recently had the oppertunity to have a hands on with the new Driver game for the GBA - Driv3r. The game is in a psuedo 3D (mode 7) and allows you to walk around a city, steal and drive cars and shoot enemies in a Grand Theft Auto style gameplay. There are also some indoor scenes.

Here are the exclusive TouchDS.com screenshots from the first mission of the game - obviously, as you can play this game on your Nintendo DS, it is relevant! It is also worth noting just how far on the graphics of the GBA have been pushed over the years.. heres hoping for an amazing future for the DS!

The game itself is rather poor, although you had to admire the efforts put into making the GBA look like this.

^ The Menu Options .. a spinning 3D Uzi-style gun shows the start of the story mode

^ The 3D rendered cutscenes are sadly still images with text..but this is GBA

^ The start of the story mode - on foot, unlike Driver 2 on GBA!

^ Pick a car, any car! Here i'm driving in a purple beast!

^ Not sure why the walls seem to bend when you get too close - i'm guessing thats my car up ahead!

^ Is that supposed to be a dodge? It doesn't handle like one...

^ The first indoor scene .. and just look at the size of that gun!

^ ...and that plant must be on something too!

^ You can aim your gun with the R button

^ A red target signals you're locked on to an enemy

^ ...and he's down! no blood though and he'll have disapeared in a second...

^ Gooooooaaaaaaaallllllllll!

^ Quite a few vehicles for you to steal as well - a van is a nice addition to the game but really handles no differently to the 'dodge' earlier.

Driv3r is published by Atari games and is set for release within the next month.

My bro has Driver 2 and it looks about the same but with some graphical improvements. I should note that Driver 2 has that van too, he uses it to knock out cops because it has lots of mass and durability.

Great, just what the world needed. Another GTA with worse graphics and controls.

NO offence shadow marth, but the graphics on this are incredibly better than the GBA's GTA offering.

Gameplay, its a different matter of course, but surely you must be slightly impressed with the graphics of the GBA title... ? no... ok then :)
