Alot of my friends who have been in gaming for ever didn't know what homebrew was until I explained to them what it was.
Then they all bought Flashcarts for their DS's and started to create some:P Hahah....

Well, the best homebrew is DS homebrew...on the DS, so you need to buy a flashcart- here you can buy cheap flash carts DealExtreme: Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - Site-Wide Free Shipping but they don't have the popular r4, ttds or m3
