I'm pretty sure they didn't have teh hardkore grafx like we have now 15 years ago. A moot point at best.

Though I personally love the game too. Have the original, and a few remakes. Still great fun.

I never played it back in the day. I first played it no more than a couple years ago. Obviously, that means I'd seen much better by that time.

I think we can both agree on the fact that playing these games, you don't go into them expecting the world in terms of visuals. Interesting to see how this will all play out. At this point, ANY good FF game on the Wii will make me a happy camper.

I don't mean that better graphics is needed to make a turn-based game great, just that it's a higher focus for both developers and players than with a realtime game of similar type. Gameplay is and always will be the #1 thing that determines a truly great game. Although, gameplay is sort of a mix of every aspect basically making up the fun factor. I'd say the story (especially for RPG's and most single player games) and the controls are considerably more important than graphics. Nostalgia would be another factor for why low graphics actually improve your opinion, seeing how many first-timers actually have lower impressions of the same game even if they enjoy the series (believe me, I have first-hand experience).
My theory basically states that with less need to think about controlling the game or other important aspects like puzzle-solving, the more the mind pays attention to the graphics of the game and the more the graphics impact the overall impression.

The honest truth is, I'm quite disappointed that it's not going to be PS3 exclusive. I've liked the idea for a number of years but at the rate they're going with their compilations, I can understand why it'd be hard to keep it to one console. (And also one of the reasons why I wouldn't poke the XboX with a stick.) I got a PS2 to play FFX and I do believe that eventually I'd get a PS3 for the XIIIs.

The Wii version sounds like it has a great chance. I'm hoping that one of the other compilations or perhaps a port of Agito XIII for the DS will be made too. Besides the ones already publicised, Square has 3 more titles for the series that they haven't fleshed out yet; Haeresis XIII , Dissidia and an unknown, so I'm really hoping that at least one title makes it to the DS. ^^

Square's gonna have at least one exclusive version on every single platform probably...so you'll have to get everything if you wanna play 'em all...

I say screw 'em, this 20-versions-of-FFXIII thing ticks me off. I'm not going outta my way for that series...it's been downhill since VIII anyways...
