For HDTV, the Wii doesn't have a 576i setting, only 480i, so it's up to your TV to adjust. Refresh rate also isn't managed by Wii, so again it's probably up to your TV, but AFAIK most TV's have a fixed refresh rate of 60Hz. I don't have an HDTV, but I know about the resolution and I'd assume if the refresh rate isn't 60Hz it's probably lower since LCD screens don't have a visible flicker at low refresh rates (the pixels remain on until refreshed, rather than only on while being refreshed as CRT screens are) and LCD technology isn't quite to the point where refresh rates can compete with modern CRT's.

ummm actually i was refering to the australian PAL units they have 3 resolutions... ill try and take a shot of it or something, and the same relates to the refresh rate... thats why PAL games run like 13% slower than NTSC and i have a standard CRT tv as well... i dunno im just confused now :P

I have a lcd hdtv and the response time is 8ms? Anyways 576i looks better for me then 480i = l. I haven't tried the component cables though...but if 480i looks bad...would 480p really look that much better ?
and...hey a fellow australian = D
