Nintendo events via mystery gift?

I live in New Zealand, so any idea if the mystery gift via WiiFi will work?
Heck, I don't even known how to use it.
Can anyone help?

Alright this is what you do-
I;m guessing you are talking about Pokemon?

Well, first- you need to find out the venue of where you can get a mystery gift from.
Secondly, you must go to that venue and turn on your DS with the game inside.
On the main menu there is an button saying mystery gift. Press that.
If there is something to download click (I think its called)
Locate gift/Download.
It will download to your save game and presto you got yourself a mystery gift.

I got a rare pokemon from that. It was awesome.
