Well, the day has come, what I thought was a dead pixel turned out to be one after all...

I've had a light pixel in the top right corner of my screen since buying my psp. According to Sony, I was to give it a week to see if it would fire right, before calling them to talk about my warranty.

Well, after emailing them to get a service number, I spoke to the CSR Supervisor, letting them know that I had plans on reporting my outcome to several news outlets online to spread the "True" word regarding their stance on dead pixels.

After letting him know I read page 13 of my manual, and that I own 2 Sony Clies which have never had such a problem, he said that I am covered by my warranty, and instructed me on what to do so that my unit would be swapped out with a New, Perfect model.

Not only did Sony call me back on my cellphone to remind me what to include when shipping my psp back, they also said they'd pay for shipping back to me.

Overall, I have to say I am very pleased with how Sony handled my situation. Their primary concern was that I bought my system New, and from a Store, NOT Ebay. I will be sending my PSP out at lunch tomorrow, so we'll have to just wait and see how long it takes to get my new one back. With any luck, I'll have it middle of next week :)

Note to Ebay PSP Buyers: Ebay sales are exempt from Sony's Limited-Warranty, because the bottom line is, they need a sales slip from an authorized dealer to verify that the system was new when you bought it, and not exhibiting shortcomings as a result of misuse and or abuse.

Personally, I think this sucks, and is a reason why I had to talk to a supervisor. I bought my PSP cash in hand with an authorized dealer, however it was literally at his distribution center the day before release. I have no reciept, and as a result, had to track down the guy I bought it from, explain my story, and beg him to fax me an invoice... The fax is sitting on my desk at work, and now, all is right with the world once again... :)

One of the reasons they did it was, because he blackmailed them. :P But seriously, I hope you get your perfect PSP soon. :D
