Increasing Frames Per Second

I remember reading that you can change the frame rate to +/- 60 FPS by increasing the CPU to 333MHz. What program is required to perform it at that rate? I doubt there are any but... any risks involved?

Increasing the Mhz increases the performance of the game. It also induces overheating of the system since the game is meant to run on the default Mhz it is set on.

overclocking cpus is alot more dangerous then video cards, you cant directly increase the core speed you have to increase the fsb...and the rest is just confusing...

It's just like running an emulator on the CPU or the PSP, using the non-default Mhz will result in frying your memory card or your circut board...well I'm not sure with CPU's.

So, they limit it to 200MHz and advertise as 333MHz, when 333MHz would fry it? If so, shame on Sony!

For emulated games, or for PSP games in general? Obviously, the CPU clock speed cap is for battery-saving purposes, but running it at full speed doesn't affect the CPU itself. You'll notice the battery drain, but that's it. Now, if you want 333Mhz overall (versus the normal 222Mhz), then, from what I know, you can only do so in emulators. Unless, of course, you know of another way. Whenever you fully turn the PSP off, everything in the cache is cleared. So that bars anything from being able to consistently OCing the CPU without having to relaunch a program. Not to mention, though, that running the CPU at 333Mhz and then putting it into sleep mode for extended periods of time CAN be damaging (remember, the CPU is still on, just that the amount of energy used is decreased).

Bottom line: No real app to keep the CPU at 333Mhz (not really OCing, just unlocking). Only way of doing so is in emulated games, or homebrew apps that have the option (and even then, the HB apps can't be open if you want to play a retail game).

Of coarse, Im talking about emulators you download to your computer or psp. Just dont go tampering with the Mhz or your frying your hardware. Making the game run in a abnormal Mhz will result in malfunction. This goes for all games with this function.*winks confidently*

Quit the contrary, I've run my PSP while playing emulated games at 333Mhz for extended periods of time, and noticed no degradation of power/performance.

Hahahah! Yeah, I was going to say similarly, but I figured someone would use a brain. I tend to avoid the PSP forum...
