Linux and Windows on the PSP

Yes, it looks like one man was able to do what many could not (well, kind of): get Linux (and Windows) on the PSP. Ok, so it’s not exactly what the crew at the PSPLinux project were aiming for since it’s x86 emulated, but a PSP hacker by the name of Matan phoned in to let us know he ported Bochs (an open-source x86 emulator) to the PSP (which runs on MIPS R4000 CPUs) and successfully tested, booted, and ran Linux and Win95. This isn’t really going to halt the PSPLinux project since they’re shooting for native (not emulated) support though, so keep on truckin’ everybody, we’re almost to the promised land.

Linux and Windows boot up on PSP

That blows. I suppose you could run X-COM on it, that might make it a decent system, but otherwise the combination of a necessary 1.5 or lower screws it, and come on, it's windows 95.

RE: Linux and Windows boot up on PSP

Well,
it sounds like (in theory) it ought to be able to run anyversion of windows...
however I'm not too sure... (there is an issue of speed)
Because 333(RISC)mhz ain't exactly fast for computers, and it's baring the wieght of the emulator.

RE: Revo to DS

ah windows 95. rubbish. id say a PSP could run win 98 and maybe millenium (thats pushin it though) XP is off the table (unless someone can modify it.....fat chance). 128MB or ram minimum 512 recommended. not that that is a big problem of course. the linux project is looking good.
