New PSP Color is...
In addition to the new PSP color being announced, there has been a few more things announced as well.
Most importantly, Sony announced what features the 2.00 firmware upgrade would include. Quote:

RE: Re: RE: How do you say ... (part 2)
All I really want is the web browser (which I already have in WipeOut) but I'm hoping it'll stream movies. Also, I wouldn't e surprised if a hacked version of the web browser is released without the upgrade of the PSP.
But nice try Sony ;)

RE: Re: RE: How do you say ... (part 2)
Oh come on it's a bunch of PR bull. The official browser is nice, but not needed. Am I reading this right:
"NETWORK - New Network Menu - This is where the web browser will be housed. The icon for it will be a globe, and it'll cycle in with the music note, film frame, and game logos" Wait... So it'll have adds every time you boot it up? Audio/Video Performance jump? What the hell does that mean. Wallpaper? Well, customization is always good. Fileswapping over a local network? You can do that by handing them the memory card... It couldn't do gif before? Why were people bragging about this feature again? Well, at least this is good for koreans. |

RE: Re: Im bored with my DS
You misunderstand, ShadowMarth. It does not say it will have ads every time you boot up. It just says that, in addition to the icons for access to Music, Videos, Images, Games, (etc) in the main menu, they are adding a new "Network" icon (in the shape of a globe) in which all the Browser and additional services will be located. If you had a PSP, you would understand.
The reason people are "bragging," as you put it, is because of the fact that Sony is finally doing something right. Now, some of the features may sound a bit weird or unnecessary, but you can't blame them for at least trying to improve the experience for normal users. Granted, a hacked browser may be available soon after its release. And you could hand them the memory stick to give them the file, but it's still on your stick. At least then you wouldn't have to let them borrow your memory stick. That, and they wouldn't have to go through the trouble of connecting it to a PC. Similar to what BigNDS was talking about. Reading through the article(s), it appears as though Sony has its own movie streaming/download service type thing. Of course, this will probably be Japan only (since Korea already has its own service up and running). You're right, though, Sepharite. There is already a browser in WipeOut. But I'm pretty sure the "official" browser is more feature packed (although still no actual Flash support -- WTF?). We'll see when it arrives. We'll see. |

But then again, I've known them to do these types of things for a long time now, so it doesn't surprise me one bit. |
