edit: Alex, why would you think about having 2 1GB mem sticks? That would insane (and stupid =p). Movies when converted to MP4 are 1/3 the original size. A 512MB stick should do the trick. But 1GB isn't useless (I have one), it's just too costly, but if you have the dough, go for it! But then again, there's Ebay, right?

True, the UMD movies isn't "universal" as said in its name. It's a waste, I agree. That's why there are mem sticks.

If you don't like these features, who said you have to use them? That's where the games come in... I'm not you -- what do you think about the lineup?

you've already suffered losing some good games and you can stop before you lose more to the PSP obsession, you must... resist! I'm probably trying too hard, but at least keep your alternatives in mind so you can choose your path more wisely.

I gave all those games away, well i got good money for them, because I got bored of them. Goldeneye was a poor and frustrating game bundled together to make what seems like a crap movie tie-in.

Anyway you know its not a dvd player just thought i would say that to get dvd quality movies on the psp to my knowledge you would have to buy the umd disks anyway so its not like a one time offer buy the psp and watch movies only for £10 a pop for each movie and since you sold all of your games just to get the psp how are you going to be able to afford a 1gb memory stick? (i know you said you had alot of spare cash around but if this was they case what was the need to get read of all of those game to be able to afford a psp?) as they are not cheep as you should know

and about the internet games well you know buy the time that you might get what you call classic online games on the psp the ds will be online with such games as Mario kart etc..... (which we all know will be a classic) and if Nintendo get there way over here in the uk like they are doing in Japan there will be lots of wifi hot sports that you can use yours in for free which you cant do with your psp.

and as for you might as well spend another £80 for the psp as it can play games that about it right well from what you have said you are manly going to get the psp for watching dvd and mp3s but in that case the portable dvd player will give you a better and bigger screen that as i said before will be able to be used with alot of other different products + you can get dvds free so you don’t spend money on them unlike the umd disks cost how ever much and as said before can only be used on the psp so abit of a waste of money and when it comes to mp3's well as for the psp's size its defeats the point of an mp3 player as they are small device that can hold alot of songs and 1. the psp is not small compared to other mp3 players on the market 2. as for storing alot of songs yea you can get a decent amount of songs onto 1 gb but then you have the cost of the card like i said before and think of all the other things you wish to put on that card movies which will take up quite alot of space and still not be as good quality as dvd and dont forget game saves etc..... then what if you got another memory card 1gb to put a few decent quality movies one and another 1gb for music and the one that came with the psp for game saves but o wait first of that’s not covientet as you would need to chaing the cards all the time and then buying the two 1gb memory card sticks that would end up costing more then the psp its self so its not as cheep as you think

And i don’t real care if you have a game cube screen or not as the dvd one would be like i said muti purpose and probably bigger as most screens that you can buy specially for a console are poor quality screens and small but if im wrong you are welcome to take a pic

So correct me if i'm wrong here. To go on a journey and to watch movies, play music AND play games portably I would have to take one Mini-disk player or MP3 player, one portable DVD player and my Gamecube AND the screen to go along with it. Buying the PSP would not make me do this. And go through my list that I just mentioned. Work out the total. £200+? for a portable DVD player AND a decent MP3 player.

Do you really have to have loads of memory to play a UMD ready made movie? I don't think so.

For the money part, I use games to buy gaming stuff I don't ever use cash to buy them I use cash to buy other things. After all I got the money from my Nan who passed away not too long ago.

Pilot_51 I know I already have a portable gamiong machine so why do most people have a GBA and a DS? I have all three so the library of games that is on offer is much bigger now so games that don't come to Nintendo will go to Sony.

Conclusion, I just feel that by owning both I'm saving money and it will be more convenient and for years to come the number of both my DS games AND PSP games will increase together giving me a much more varied gaming experience.

Best of both worlds.

cause the GBA came out about 5-6 years before the DS... why do a lot of people have an N64 and a gamecube? same reason.

if you want the "other" gaming experience, just go and buy a PS2. same gaming experience since 90% of PSP games are remakes of PS2 ones, and its on a way bigger screen, with WAY more games. even I am considering getting a cheap ps2(and i think we all know how much i love sony...), for these new games coming like okami and shadow of the collosus, and plus i wanna play god of war and gran turismo 4(its the only gran turismo game i haven't owned)

Iv'e had my experience with a PS2 and I was appauled but at least witht he PSP it has other stuff like MP3's and Movies.

As for the memory cards, they won't be too hard to get hold of cheaply I'm sure ebay will be decent enough.

no chuddy you real need to understand that you cant get memory sticks for sony machines cheep thats just how it is you wont be able to find a cheep 1gb one just trust me on this one.

tis not the point chuddy to get the stuff you want to make the psp half decent for what you want it for you will have to spend over half of the original cost
