Just as it is with any electronic device that has a card adapter: if the engine is running and your alternator isn't faulty it won't drain your battery.

A valuable piece of information to keep throughout your life: if you're constantly having to push-start your car or get jumps from other vehicles you may have a bad battery or alternator.
