Games are region free, movies are not.
It'll take some 10-50x more care than the DS, considering Nintendo knows how to make their systems handle a beating from crazy kids and Mt. Everest climbers and skydivers and Gulf War bombs, and it's been told in a lot of places that the PSP might break or stop working with a 2 or 6 foot drop.

1) The games are region free (unless specifically locked-out by the publisher -- virtually nonexistant, though). Movie and Music UMD's are region-locked.

2) To get the most out of the whole multimedia experience, a 512MB Duo is bare minimum. 1GB Duo is recommended.

3) Depends on how you want to. If you're a clean-freak and care about hairline scratches, it'll need a lot of care. If you're fine with some scratches, not much care is needed. Fingerprints are very visible, so that requires attention (unless, again, you don't care). It's safe to say that a drop every now and then won't do any harm. Since launch, I've dropped my PSP 7 times from varying distances (2-8ft). Still works great.

Enjoy your purchase if you do get a PSP this holiday season. I'd highly advise importing a few games...

Thumbs up

Hey dan your getting a psp?! Good thinking

Yup games are free of any region lock but movies aren't, not too bad.

Online games are not coming thick and fast but I know the majority have some kind of download content option.

I take extreme care of my PSP, I keep it in the pouch provided and always clean it with a glasses cloth. It seems pretty sturdy but as the others have said, it has been known to be a little fragile with a short drop, but who drops it anyway

Good luck, it would make a perfect Christmas present. Good ole santa..

If you have money for a PSP, then I suggest you GET GAMES! There's just so many these days that must be tried.
