The wait to find out exactly when the Sony PSP will launch in North America (and how much it will cost) will soon be over.
SCEA has mailed out invitations to select press for a gala event scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 5th in Las Vegas. The invitation specifically mentions that the purpose of the event is to unveil the PSP hardware, pricing, and launch games for the North American market.

EA Games and EA Sports will hold a similar meeting the following day to show off their 2005 video game line-up, which will include six PSP titles.

Not coincidentally, also taking place this week in Las Vegas is the International Consumer Electronics Show, which starts January 6th and runs through the 9th. Sony will have the PSP on display on the show floor and attendees will be able to sample some of the unit's hottest games.

RE: Re: RE: Re: <-DS Online->

If the PSP is $150, Nintendo will drop the DS price no doubt. But that would be a huge, huge risk for Sony to sale it that cheap. I just don't see it going that low. My guess is $179.99-$199.99. Anything more than that for a portable would also be a risk.

Also, games are marked at EBGAMES.com for $49.99. I am sure these prices will go down, but Sony is very confident if they try to sale these games for the same price of new release console games.

i doubt they will drop the game price because that is where they are going to make their money. they are already losing a lot of money on the PSP itself.

They're losing money on the PSP? Where did you hear that from. From what I read, they sold BIG on their first week.

Well, it's January 5th. I checked IGN PSP today and found an article posted around 8:00 in the morning and it states that Ken Kutaragi said that the PSP will launch in North America and Europe in the month of March 2005.
