Well dude, if you consider handhelds, every one of Nintendo's handhelds has had backward compatability at least one generation. Sony's had two consoles. If you count the handheld market, then you've got 3 (GBC, GBA, DS, not counting all the Pockets and SPs). Simple percentages aren't worth much against the actual numbers...
Besides, sony's never had a 100% on anything relating to disks. I don't see that changing on PS3 launch. |

I've been thinking about this.
I'm gonna ask a couple questions, and i Just want to know your thoughts? 1) Does DreamCast have limited backwards compability with PSX? (why/why not) 2) Does GC have limited backwards compability with N64 / NES (y/yn) 3) Does GBA have limited backwards compabillity with NES? (y/yn)

You'll notice I didn't include the DS in there. But in all other cases I don't mean PORTS. (eg. SMB64 DS = a port) I'll be back on tonight to see what you guys have to say.

Anyway, despite your flattery about my sig BigNDS, I must now smite you with my emo powers of doom due to your ridiculous percentage comment... Seriously, that's so messed up. Sony 1/1 > Nintendo 3/5? The math's right, but the reality isnt. And let's take a look to the future for a minute. Judging by the expected hardware, Revolution will most likely be 100% compatible w/ GC games (including Mem Cards and controllers, unlike 360 and probably PS3 too). There is no way in hell Sony can run PS1/PS2 games on the PS3 with the architecture of the Cell processor, thus they'll turn to emulation as Microsoft did, and thus only certain games will be compatible. And don't forget that whole Revolution Download Service thing, that earns Nintendo "Backwards Compatibility of the Century Award". Nintendo is king of backwards compatibility, and if you disagree, I will so dropkick you in the head (with my emo powers of doom too)...

I dare you....
We are judging this by what weve experienced first hand, or the public has in any case, this argument is way to open ended to be fair, and we will continue with this, until we have som clear ground rules as to which you will base this debate on, we wont reach a proper conclusion.

Pwned. =) Now, Nintendo and Sony are pretty much tied. Both can play all their games (excluding handhelds). -{Games} But the fact that Nintendo allows download making it easier to reminisce games rather than to go out etc... And the fact that you can easily download the roms off the web anywhere. Nintendo has a slight favor. - {Accessibility}
