Its a big debate though. America is really embracing nice big HD televisions. Their chennals are gong to broadcast in HD pretty soon and traditonal transmission is going to be stopped by 2020 i think (dont quote me). Europe and japan however have yet to decide on standads and no channels (besides sky and the bbc) intend to broadcast in HD any time soon. The fact that japa has yet to decide on HD standards is probably a big factor for nintendo.
Personally i dont care since i won't have a HD telly for a long time. But it could effect revolution sales in countries that have alot of HD tellys in homes. This is probably not a wise move on nintendos part. If europe and japan get HD sorted then nintendo may get into alot of trouble since their games will look a bit poor on the higher resolutions. |

think what you gain by not having (or atleast not forcing HD on the revolution). You need less RAM (less power overall) meaning you'll get better performing games, on cheaper hardware. It cost less to make the low resolution games (should mean they're quicker to make too). Plus, the 20 years of older titles can't really make use of the HD anyway... and as Sony said at E3 - "Resolution is the enemy of graphics". My feeling is make it like the (N64) expansion pack, where the developer choices just how they want to use the power, high-resolution, smarter AI, larger levels... (wtf else they credited to that thing). ![]()

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Is this board neccesary?
the only thing is if you play revolution on a HD telly it will either only take up a small part of the screen or the image will be badly stretched (play a low res movie at a high resolution on your PC and see what happens). Of course you probably wont be able to hook it up to a HD telly in the first place which means people who want the Revolution will need to keep a normal telly.
