They can't easily make it bigger that's the issue...
they will (likely) eventauly make it bigger when costs come down..
Granted, I'm no fan of UMD but your looking a huge differnce in storage.

Re: RE: a new game?

More space = more money. Most companies simply don't have the money to pay for all the extra space, multiplied by the amount of games produced.

Nintendo invested over 50 million into the company responsible for inventing the ROMs which the DS uses for cartridges. These chips are high density, are one-time writable, and shipped blank from the factory.

Solid state memory doubles every year, from the 1gig SD, to the 2gig SD, from the 2gig CF to the 4gig CF, it's just the nature of the technology.

Production costs are driven down by dealing in volume, but we all know how econ works.

Game format medium is really a moot point for portables, unless it's a matter of durability, which the UMD clearly has problems with.

Like all IGN reviews, they feed it's core audience exactly what they want to read, as for the rest of us, we know a system is only as good as it's software lineup, and quite honestly, noone makes better games than Nintendo.

Gotta' be honest, the article seemed pretty accurate for the most part... but since I myself prefer Nintendo first party games, that makes my personal fave the DS... though I am getting a PSP as well.
