More Fun for Less Money

It is official. PS Fanboys over the past few days have started saying that the Wii is more fun for less money. So will the Wii really make an impact at its cheap price and more fun features? I think once you get PS Fanboys to say that the Wii is more fun, that you have won the war. The Wii has surprised everyone this E3, and has easily stolen teh show in my books. But do you think the $600 PS3 with its almighty Blu Ray discs stand a chance? Of course not. Who in their right mind would pay $600 for a console with expensive games, when you could build a PC which is more fun with better graphics for less money? The Wii being so fun, innovative, cheap, and sticking to gaming has made many people think. Is this the come-back for Nintendo? The DS, innovative, fun, and cheap is the leader of the handheld market. The Wii has taken control of E3. So who's gonna win? Microsoft will have a 10 million console head start, which isn't too great. I know the majority of us will have a Wii at the holiday season, some including myself will have a beauty at launch. Sound off, who wins this generation-Expensive but powerful PS3, the at-part 360, or the more fun for less money Wii? I will say the Wii, only because of the comments so far from E3. Metroid Prime Corruption, Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Red Steel, Super Smash Bros Brawl, improved Madden, Wii Sports even, Wario Ware, the list goes on. Square Enix is on-board with Final Fantasy, and a launch game which I forgot the name of. Rayman looks ok I guess. All we've seen from Sony and Microsoft this year at E3 is a powerful and beautiful games, but nothing about the fun. So, I say lets go Wii! Now, your opinion, who wins?

Well, you can't declare victory before the war really starts, but the Wii certainly took E3 by storm. 6 hour lines. Here's a quote from TG Daily:
Quote:
On the second day of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), it becomes clear that Nintendo's upcoming Wii console grabs the attention of show attendees at a much faster pace that the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360.

While Nintendo has created an impressive booth with 27 games running on even more stations, it is nearly impossible for most attendees to get a glimpse at the titles. A few minutes after the show opened, Nintendo estimated the wait to reach a game station at about four hours. By 10 am, the wait had increased to six hours. By our estimates, there were at least 1000 people in line waiting, especially for a first look at Ubisoft's Red Steel first person shooter.

Interestingly, there is hardly any wait at the Sony and Microsoft booth. People can test drive Xbox 360 and PS3 titles within five minutes of wait or less.
Also, here's a full video of the line. It's 4 and a half minutes long.

Edit by Nmaster:

Just to add to that video of yours, here's the stampede to the Nintendo booth when the doors opened on Friday.

i would like to say as everyone is saying how good nintendo is and that they are giving people the best games and that they have the longest que to test out there new system...

but we all know that every e3 they steal the show... they always have the best press confernece... they always have the longest lines to test out there stuff at the show and people always say good things about them at the show... but this is no good as this never ends up being what it turns out to be in sales etc... (im not talking profit btw) but i hope as they are changing gaming as we know it now they will be able to keep this suport and renewed confidence in gaming but im pritty shore that most people who got the xbox360 half of them will probaly end up getting a wii well the other go for the ps3 as they only bought the 360 as it was a power house at the time... and foe the people who are waiting for the ps3 they will only be convinced in the long run of the the wii anly if we see more "adult" title like red steel but with better grafics like the first party games... as from what i have seen it will be fun red steel but wont win any awards in it grafical details and yes i know that were not that bothered about grafics but most are and this wont change for the time being...

but all i will say is that the wii wil not be a failer like nintendo is calling the gc i think it will sell more and we should see alot more games for the wii then we did the gc but i think they wont be ports of the other console games but more origanal/risky games from established develipers as its going to be alot cheaper to take the risk then on other systems as well as hopefuly indi games devs... but but i dont know yet as most of them seem to still be going for pc rather then thr wii a the moment...

Not true. Just as many (gamespot editors and ourselves in particular) called last year's E3 the year of the DS, when it had such an amazing showing, many will call this the year of the Wii. Or at least the year of this generation.

well i suppose only time will tell but i would call it another year nintendo have dominated and has just reasured me that my blind spending that i would do for the wii will be a good investment

+ you have to rember that the ds had a big advantage over the wii at the same time last year as even though we all know its not a game boy most people would have have just assumed it was and would have got one just as they had a gba and thought it was the next one + nintedo has basicly owned the handheld market ever since it entered it so people just assumed it would be good too while nintendo did own the console market untill the n64 ware they lost alot of third party support as it was hard to develop for and is when sony started there hold over the console market so with the wii they have to convince people that its good and that it is worth getting over all the other or as a good addition too but will not have the imedia back support they had with ds as they were number 1 in that market (still are as people are seeing how bad the psp is compared...)

Hehe, on this subject, Slashdot has an article up entitled: "Ken Kutaragi's Famous Last Words." Kutaragi BSing... I mean "talking" about the price.

Quote:
SCEI president Ken Kutaragi has defended the PlayStation 3's high price tag once again, declaring that not only will consumers be prepared to pay the cost but that the console is "probably too cheap."

In an interview with Japanese website IT Media, partially translated by IGN, Kutaragi said: "This is the PS3 price. Expensive, cheap - we don't want you to think of it in terms of game machines."

"For instance," Kutaragi continued, "Is it not nonsense to compare the charge for dinner at the company cafeteria with dinner at a fine restaurant? It's a question of what you can do with that game machine. If you can have an amazing experience, we believe price is not a problem."

You're not just getting a game system... you're entering the world of entertainment! You get a photoviewer which can be done on a cheaper system, a blueray movie player which fails in comparison to HD-DVDs... and a whole lot more! Can you imagine the possibilities!? GAHHH!

gg Sony. k thx bi.

Well technically, the BlueRay's have a lot more storage space, right? Regardless, I think sony's new media will fail. There are already some HD-DVD players on the market for much cheaper than the BlueRay's even if still very expensive. And people will be more likely to buy something named "HD-DVD" than some obscure name like Blue-Ray.

Not only that, but Sony's toted features a year ago have dropped drastically, especially if you don't buy the $600 model. Comparison.

(if someone would kindly resize this image for me, as posting it would take several pages, I would be thankful)
