Hmmm well I think it'd be good to have a gui tool for each commandline tool, but the commandline is so powerful and much easier than the windows dos thing, with it's great tabbed completition it's so nice and fast :), for a few months I was just using ratpoison (keyboard driven window manager) and the commandline for everything from chat to internet browsing and downloading (keyboard is great, much faster than a mouse for most things).

Neumie I suggest you go and order a ubuntu CD, they ship them for free, ubuntu has become a very popular distrobution, but yea Gentoo is great, there are some guides on doing a stage one install from CD, you could have a look around for them, but if you're on 56k I say just order ubuntu :).... oh actually, if you want a distro similar to gentoo but with faster install then go and get arch, it's damn fast, the initial install CD is 200 meg though I think, if you have a friend that can download it for you, get him to do that. A lot of people actually regard arch as better than gentoo, though it doesn't have an insanely huge repository like gentoo.

RE: Will you still go online if....

oh the command line is very powerful. I like it, its interesting and definately more powerful and user friendly than dos. Im just saying that most people are intimidated by command lines. A gui was one of the big reasons windows became a big sucess.

Ubuntu is free on cd?, sure ill try it. What about suse 9.2 personal? any good? i have that on DVD aswel.

Finally tried the DS

I hear that Suse is good for people who aren't tech saavy.... but if you can do HTML then I recommend gentoo if it's an option, but you have 56k :( it would take about 2-3 days on that probably, atleast a day and a night.

And yea, the ubuntu people will ship CD's to you for free, ubuntu is becoming popular very quickly, so it could be good to try out, perhaps I'll try it out one day if I ever make a mess of my gentoo install, but I don't think that's ever going to happen.

RE: Do you have Toontown?

I have ordered my 64bit ubuntu linux. Should be with me in a few weeks. Its cool. They automatically send you a cd when a new version comes out.
By the way you have just cursed your gentoo install. Itll be destroyed in a few days guaranteed :-D.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Need For Speed Underground: Rivals

Windows games are usually of a far higher standard graphically than consoles, well atleast deffinately once the console is a couple of years old PC's will be far ahead.

I myself use a console if I want to game, my computer I use for hacking & work & talking to people... I like my devices to just WORK which is what a console does... and I like my computer to do the same and never crash on me, hence why I don't use winblows & when it's ready will be moving to the hurd which will be utterly insanely stable.

RE: Link of Site.

so any computer that is up to date should be able to play a console? cool..but trying to play an xbox game with a keypad would be awkward..

RE: Advance Wars Pre-Preview

Xbox shoudn't be called a console..... it's a pc that's trying to pretend.
