RE: Graphics card problem
PC certainly has its advanteges and disadvanteges. Might as well list.
PC Advantages: Easy access to online play Easy to develop for Best for MMOs at the moment (see #1) Best for FPS. Period. (The rev is a good substitute though) Graphics can be much better than current consoles Easy to release patches and upgrades Awesome downloadable mods and demos Disadvantages: Hacking is much easier on PC Though graphics and developing can be easier, you have to make all the models varying quality to comply with a variety of system specs Expensive components that require frequent upgrades I won't do console, since the next three will vary quite a bit. |

RE: Re: RE: Lots of new media
Well, as a chronic sufferer (hmm, maybe not the right term) of NF (Nintendo Fanboyitis) I usually try to get a console version of a game first, but for the same reason I will often fall back on the PC. How is this logical you ask? Example: I would never buy a Microsoft console, but I've been aching to try out Fable. My solution: The Lost Chapters http://www.microsoft.com/games/fable/

Most every developer worth their salt started out as a PC game maker, Sierra, EA, Blizzard, Rare, even a little company known as Capsule Computer, yes, that's right, Capcom.
With games like World of Warcraft garnering over four million gamers world wide, and at a premium price per month to play, it's clearly evident that computer gaming isn't going anywhere. Firstly, MMO's themselves have their own communities and economies which will never find it's way onto a console, so if you're a company that caters to niche markets, you'll always have an audience. Secondly, Pay-for-Play is a relatively new concept, yet one that is closer to being mainstream now that Blizzard has taken the MMO scene by storm. Thirdly, games designed for the pc scale downwards to consoles, not upwards. That said, even with these new consoles on the horizon, the chip manufacturers that made that technology possible are also going to apply what they've learned to their own line of products, just the same way we saw it done when the GC and PS2 were released. The PC trumped them both in capability at launch simply because nVidia and ATI dumped cards based on similar technology onto the PC market. DOOM3 is not possible on the PS2, that's got to say something about consoles, especially if the only machine capable of a port is essentially a PC at heart. Lastly, development costs for a PC game are almost nothing compared to a console. If a game does well enough, it's snatched up, recoded and ported to everything under the sun with a dpad, i.e. Max Payne and Serious Sam. End of Line.

I think the PC gaming will be around for along time. I mena there are a lot of games coming out with better graphics (which means gettting a new card) and better gameplay. I want some games that are coming out soon. So I really don't think the PC gaming is going away any time soon.

i just revamped my pc. It cost me a little over $200 to do it all but it was definently worth it for FEAR, BF2, and BIA:EIB. Since i work at best buy we get accomodations and the $299 RADEON 850XT pro only cost me $179 which was the best deal ever!! then i had to get a new case so i could fit it and a bigger power supply, so i took it to geek squad in our best buy and they transfered everything for me. After starting it up for the first time and playing these games ican tell u guys it was so worth it to upgrade, my 9600XT lasted for about almost 2 years and through HL2 so im hoping this one is gonna last a lot longer. everything runs so crisp with everything on high..i recommend upgrading now if u can
