Problem with graphics comparisons

I'm going back to DS games now and noticing that the n64 ports just look like abominations compared to the PSP, however when comparing new games, like Asphault GT or Metroid First Hunt, suddenly the DS looks to hold it's own again.

I played multiplayer Metroid for an hour lastnight, and felt right at home as if I was on a next gen handheld. I popped in Ridge Racer DS and all of a sudden I felt like I was playing a gameboy game with software polygon support...

The point of my rant?

You aint seen nothing yet on the DS...

With 60fps mariokart and need for speed on the way, I think the DS will get some of the visual redemption it needs back from the sony fanboys.

yeah tru i think psp's graphics are great, but thats all if ds was small and had better grtaphics i could compete w/ psp!

mario karts graphics look so much better then the n64...the boxes...they look wonderful! T_T

So far, what we've gotten on the DS is either of these three:

1) High-quality visuals (far better than the N64)
2) Ports with average visuals (only slightly better than N64 at best)
3) 2D games that aren't worth a second look at to judge visuals (with a few exceptions)

With Mario Kart and Metroid Prime: Hunters, it looks like we're getting option #1. That's always a good thing. I'm very happy to see such games in developement. Now, we need the third parties to do the same. Pretty soon we'll have games on the DS that are worth the time to look at just to see the visual quality. NFSU2 seems to be one of the first few games that will accomplish this. We have so far only scratched the surface of the DS' graphical capabilities. I, for one, am quite excited. :D

60FPS. Like many DS games.

60 frames eh...hmm i hope they design the karts as good as they can...with many designs
