PS3 Blue-Ray Drives $100 EACH! - Page 3

Sony loses money on every console...its the game developers buying the disks and giving sony some of the profit taht gets them cash. PSP costs $300 to make and its esimated sony will lose at least $100 on every PS3

We know. But they can't keep the price low while constantly jacking the prices up on components, so the blue-ray drives cost $100? Add at least a third of that on to the final PS3 price...

StreaK, I would tend to agree with you there. I have had the PsOne and two, and neither of them has had anything wrong with them. I said to somebody on MSN - I think it was Biggy - you may not have bought a Skoda or had a poor one, but that doesn't mean that car didn't have problems.

stand alone blue ray drives can cost $1000 i think the first one was $5000

Obviously it's a lot cheaper than buying one, but considering that sony actually PRODUCES them... You get the picture. And I'd have to bet that even though blue-ray is somewhat inferior to HD-DVDs, it will still win... until holographic disks destroy them all.

And it was more powerful than the PS2.... That's sad. Sony is full of idiots I am convinced.

You joking? How did it cost that little? It had pretty decent technology too, what, with it being small and STILL more powerful than the costly PS2.

Perhaps the console could have been slightly cheaper, still!
