Which one should I get for my birthday? A Dell Demension Desktop, or a PSP? Right now I am going for a Dell Demension Desktop. For those of u who don't know what that is, well, its just a PC.

Well, I mean for getting the most out of the game, you'd need at LEAST an 80GB HD, and possibly more RAM. But, that's just me.

RE: Please Tell The Truth

DON'T BY DELL DESKTOPS
laptops are okay, but not the desk tops.

My brother got one, and we had to open it up, and plug in the CD-ROM ourselfs.

my laptop is P4 2.2, and 768 RAM, and it's 2 years old so I'd say that is low end (maybe mid-range) for a desk top.

But the real trouble is the video card. DELL likes cheap cards, if your card says INTEL or Intergrated ( or both :( ) DON'T BUY IT.

When you buy your PC makes sure it'll take atleast 2 Gig Ram, so it's expandable enough to last a while.

never ever ever ever ever, get a Dell, They charge you mainly for the building of the PC, if you have any knowlage at all about PC's you should attemp to build your own, It's much cheaper and you can get the spec. you want.

RE: Please Tell The Truth

Okay, here is what you do, you go and you buy yourself all the parts and put it together yourself, it's just like lego, everything clicks together, if you're scared of that, take apart your old computer and unscrew a card and pull it out.... it's easy.

So an 80 gig drive is only going to be a few dollars more than a 40 gig, 120 gig is probably the best price point.

You'll need at the very least 512 megs of ram to run Windows XP (Once it get's overloaded with spyware and starts going incredibly slow, PM me about using GNU/Linux, a real operating system)

Get a dvd writer, they are also very cheap now.

17" monitor will be fine.

Don't bother getting word perfect, just download open office which is a free office suite that is infact so good that many world governments are changing over to it, instead of paying for MS office.

Also, you probably don't want a celeron processor if your gaming, get an AMD processor.

Now if this is all too confusing you could ask a geeky friend to come with you and buy the parts and put it together for you... or you could add me on jabber (PM me to get details) or maybe x999x would help you over msn.

Seriously, never buy a brand name computer....... the warrantys you get buying seperate parts are also superior, and you will save yourself a lot of money.
