RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: cambodian water monkeys r0xx0rs
This is insane... The minute magazines and websites actually start to realize the PSP has a bad lineup, and the UMD format was rediculous,(namely 1up and slashdot), this comes out. They say that it's a gimmick, and will fail, because only pokefreaks like it. Yeah... and everyone loves the PSP, not just metal gear fans.
http://1up.com/do/newsStory?Dispatch...mp;cId=3143180 Judging from the comments from the gamers of 1up, they agree that this was BS. Sony's not helping themselves here. |

Yeah, Nintendo was smart to do it this way. With both of these heavy hitters out on the same day, it's boosted the opinion of the DS MASSES. If they had come out a couple weeks apart I couldn't imagine the same response. Now that the DS has the momentum to get to the holidays, we can expect Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and some third party online games to give the DS a heavy edge.

In the same breath though, SM, they will have lost a lot of sales by playing it this way. Had they released the games a month apart, fans of both would be easily, in most cases at least, get both games. Now we have already seen that some are having to choose between one, and perhaps leaving the other in preparation for MK.
I do agree that it has improved the image and opinion of the DS though. It's no longer 'that-promising-system-with-no-games', but one that's actually living up that potential (and at least that gimmick can churn out great games, Sony!) |
