Well here's another tidbit. Graphics-based consoles as we know them may be past their day. What is being regarded as the most graphically intensive game currently in development, Crysis, has dropped support for the PS3, because "it can't handle it." That's right, the newest technology can outpace the most powerful console before it's even on the market. PCs may be the last refuge for the graphics whore before long.

They have made some games, it's just that their games normally aren't so great, nor do they ever really make a name for Sony. Do you really associate PS2 with Legend of the Dragoon? No, most people associate it with GTA and the like. They don't make games with the quality or quantity that Nintendo does. They rely very largely on third parties.

I realize and understand that. I normally associated PS2 with FFX and Xenosaga. Unless Sony gets a good 1st party game team together, I agree that the PS3 will probably go under. Sony has made some great games, such as Legend of Dragoon. But you are right, Dragoon was PS1, not PS2, and I haven't even heard of any PS2 Sony games, so they really don't make a name for themselves... Maybe they won't be making games for other companies, when they collapse, but they can always go back to making hardware for other companies (like sound chips and stuff).

Eh, even if sony were to make games that were half decent, it wouldn't mean anything. Considering the PS3s ridiculous price, a few good games made by them wouldn't mean alot without decent third party support.
Graphics are important, but only on certain levels. I'd rather have a gamecube over a super nintendo, purely because the graphics are 10000% better. But the difference in graphics between the PS3 and 360 aren't really that great, you'd just be paying extra for pixels your eyes probably can't even see if you bought sonys console. Considering that, and a lack of third party support, you'd be paying for a very snazzy looking waste of space in my opinion. If people see this, it will flop big time. If not, people will waste their money, THEN it will flop. |
