lol its not just "Stan" that said snaking is ok... like take NOA Andy.

just because the developers don't snake doesn't mean they believe it to be morally wrong >_>

and i only disagree with snaking if people are snaking against non-snakers. that just ruins the game for them.

Actually I think there's more non-snakers than snakers, it's just that the non-snakers aren't in the spotlight all the time, just like go-karts aren't on TV as much as NASCAR. The friends list helps skew the view of reality because in many cases non-snakers have non-snaking friends and snakers have snaking friends, and if their friends are on often they never so a random search to get a better perspective. Snakers should practice their snaking offline, like NASCAR racers practice alone before actually racing with others, so if a non-snaker beats a snaker, the snaker deserves the pwnage. A snaker and a non-snaker of about the same skill in their class don't belong and pwnage should not be a factor in such a race, as much as it hurts the snakers to think of it like that, just putting them together is rediculous, not so much how it ends.
The official word from Nintendo about snaking is that it wasn't intended by the developers and they frown on it. I think it was Reggie speaking for Nintendo there, who had all the contact with the people within Nintendo that he needed, unlike those "email monkeys" who likely never even bothered to get anyone elses opinion and said that snaking is completely valid. Also keep in mind that NOA Andy isn't a developer or Reggie, and you can't expect all the popular people in Nintendo to keep with what the rest in the company believes. I'm guessing Nintendo is just accepting it and going with the flow, trying to keep all their customers happy, but they'll always respect the non-snakers the most for sticking to the intentions of the game.

All in all, we've essentially revived the topic that nobody will ever agree with, going off topic in this thread, so keeping the current topic alive is just blowing steam everywhere and ruining Mormon's MKDS clan thread. If we want to continue pointlessly arguing we should find and revive the snaking debate thread.

Huh...what the..."Its competitive" is the only reason snakers come up with. I'm like: "DUDE THE GAME IS ALREADY COMPETITIVE! YOU THROW SOME ****ING BLUE SHELLS THAT BLOW UP THE PERSON AND THEY ARE WAY BEHIND ON LAST LAP THEN THEY GET A RED SHELL AND WIN!!!!!!" with snaking all you do is go back and forth and it's a cheap way to win...and it proves if you didn't snake, then you'd lose.(rofl when ever I say that they say: "It's competitive!!"

How is it competitive when your using a cheap way to win while the other person is staying true?

Yoshi has a point, it's already competitive without snaking, as long as everyone sticks to the same method of racing. Snakers using the "it's competitive" excuse is rather lame, it's only another type of competition (entirely based on speed instead of a balance of speed and strategy as the MK series has been true to all these years).

Yeah, I've always thought if you want to snake, go play F-Zero GX, where not only do the staff ghosts do it, but it takes some level of skill. Oh and Mormon, just out of curiosity, where was this beta information from?

It is extensively used as a second language and as an official language in many other countries, and is the most widely taught and understood language in the world. An estimated 300-500 million people speak English as their first language. One recent estimate is that 1.9 billion people, nearly a third of the world's population, have a basic proficiency in English [1]. English is the dominant international language in communications, science, business, aviation, entertainment, diplomacy and the internet. It has been one of the official languages of the United Nations since its founding in 1945.

Anyway, who cares about snaking? The point is all the clans do it, and if you don't, you'll get pwned.

FYI snaking is the fastest method of getting through a track, and is the most competitive level of play. Competitive players abuse every technique they can find (hello jumpcanceled grabs, wavedash, shffl, and countless other techniques in ssbm that have been found), and straight stretch mini turbos was one of the techniques found in mkds. Linking multiple SSMTs together, you get snaking. It's just a faster way of playing the game. If you want strategy, play Advanced Wars or w/e, because last time I checked randomly getting lightning when you're behind isn't skill or strategy.

Despite what yoshi says, it does take skill to snake. It takes skill to snake well, anyway. A good snaker can take basically the same route as any "normal" player, but do it faster. A better snaker can PRB straight through some courses.

MKDS has its share of racing strategy. Yes, it's got crazy random items that take from the strategy factor, but it also adds to it by kart selection and the use of those items at the best moment, and IMO it adds more strategy than it takes. Last I checked Advance Wars wasn't online, so the use of strategy isn't challenged by other human players unless you're lucky enough to have a nearby friend with a DS.
