Unless you consider advanced techniques in ssbm cheating, I fail to see how you could consider snaking or even PRBing through a track cheating.

However, if someone were to use a lap skip glitch, or the glitch shortcuts in Sky Garden or Rainbow Road, I would understand how you could consider those cheating. These are using glitches to put you way ahead of where you should be on the track at a given point in time (to the point where a non-snaker could easily beat a snaker if performed properly all 3 laps, and the non-snaker takes good lines). Snaking is only a side affect of the game engine. It doesn't manipulate the invisible walls in the game that keep you following the course. When you snake you follow the same course as anybody else. How is that cheating?

MKDS has its share of racing strategy. Yes, it's got crazy random items that take from the strategy factor, but it also adds to it by kart selection and the use of those items at the best moment, and IMO it adds more strategy than it takes. Well it was the only strategy game I could think of atm. I don't often play strategy games. About items adding more strategy than they take... I couldn't dissagree any more. Two equally skilled players (snakers or non-snakers... doesn't matter) are going roughly neck-and-neck, and then one picks up a red shell. It doesn't take much strategy to know if you wait until after the last item box on the course to use it, you will win the match. Few things can block a red shell in mkds, unlike other mk games. The level of skill required to use most items is low, although I will give credit to those that can snipe players with green shells, among other items. Items are just too random imo.

So you're perfectly fine with hating some glitches, but you give fancy initials to describe this glitch in the game's physics that you exploit. And yes, I do consider what you call "Advanced techniques" in SSBM cheats. Because they're also exploits in the game physics. You rationalize cheating in rediculous ways. But you will never give up your ways, so just abandon this thread except for its intended use, as I will do henceforth.

Exploit is something that is there, and doesnt require much effort to 'exploit'. Snaking is not an exploit. Cheating is an exploit that that requires a bit to alot of energy, this is snaking.

Cheating is using AR codes to give yourself an unfair advantage. Snaking is NOT cheating. It's merely a product of the game engine. Just like WDing in ssbm, when it was found you could perform a waveland before actually leaving the ground.

And an exploit is an exploit. It's not that some exploits are cheating and others are not. That's hypocrisy.

Gamebreaking glitches. Just like the IC's freeze glitch in ssbm. These are true glitches, on top of that, and not just a part of the game engine. In certain spots the game programmers did a poor job sealing the invisble walls which make it possible to jump huge portions of track, w/o any "checkpoints" in between. Rainbow Road is an exceptional example of this with 5 glitch shortcuts (I think it was 5 - might have been more) taking advantage of faulty invisible walls.

I'm not the one who coined the phrase Straight Stretch Mini Turbo. That phrase has been around since long before the DS's invention. SSMTing on straight track has always been done in TT to gain a little extra speed, and it happened to be more abusable in mkds than in other mk games, which led to snaking (actually, snaking has been around at least since mkdd, it just hasn't been a public issue because of no wifi).

This truly made me lol. First of all, most advanced techniques were built into the game and were intended by the programmers. WDing is one of the few adv techs that people have had to manipulate the game engine to perform. Shffl'ing, comprised of the short hop, intentionally put into the game, the fast fall, intentionally put into the game, and the L-cancel, also intentionally put into the game, is by no means immaginable cheating, and it's considered by far one of the most important adv techs in the game. WDing isn't gamebreaking, either. You can slide along the ground. Real threatening. Something like the IC's freeze glitch is, and so is banned (if you don't know what the IC freeze glitch is, it's where the ICs stop your character from moving and allow them to hit you with an onslaught of attacks in which you have no way to avoid or counter back; watch this to get a better idea:
