A) Not a capitolized letter in it.
B) Not even remotely.
C) Incorrect spellings in post and sig.
D) Gangsta talk. Worse.

One more thing though. Grammatical errors do not make you a n00b by default. But it sure doesn't help.

Oh you dudes are friggin excited. Yeah grammar errors make it harder to read, but as long as I can understand it, I've got no problem. Grammar snobs.

Aye I'm with Biggy here. Unless it's virtually unreadable, is it really that much of an effort to read some n00bish posts once in a while?

I generally find that if someone has a bunch of random numbers on the end of their name, they're a noob 90% of the time.
I, for one, would be an exception to this rule (although there is a reason behind the numbers I chose).

For the record, I've always found internet speak annoying (using "u" instead of "you" for example), and found it to take more effort to typ lik dis than to type like a normal person, using punctuation and proper grammer.

As far as noobs go, I don't think that improper grammar/spelling is that incriminating as long as you can understand their post. The noobs that bug me are the ones that are just morons who think they know something. Idc if they have absoultely perfect grammar and a vast vocabulary. If they're ignorant enough to post blatently false information and fight for it even though they are proven wrong over and over again, that's when it gets to me. If it's obvious they're just trolling, then sometimes it can be kinda funny, though.

Btw, posting with good grammar doesn't mean not using abreviations, as I do. It's just a shorthand, and people understand it, as opposed to ciphers like leet.

What? You can't tell me that you don't make mistakes. The point of this thread is that people should put forth the minor effort of correct grammar, which I always do. *Goes back to edit post*

Correct. Go back to my very earliest forum days and you won't find me saying "u" or using leet or anything like that.

The Fine Line Between "n00b" and "newb"

Simply change it from video games to a forums environment.

I've never used internet slang on forums, I try to keep it as grammatically correct as I can, and probably the most I do in IM is "cya" instead of "see you" (and too much "lol" for my own comfort), I do however occasionally use "u" to fit in an extremely limited message like that of ACWW.
As for the whole l33t thing, I usually only use it when I see a meaning behind it, like "n00b" is someone acting like a really stupid newbie, while "newbie" or "newb" is the proper term for someone new, and "noob" is in the middle.
I also use acronyms a bit, especially games, and some other common acronyms.
