It's not just about the hours for any single game, it's more about the total hours for all games and the number of games regularly played and the percentage of income spent for gaming. Someone with over about 30 hours every week in WoW and barely anything in other games is addicted to WoW, not addicted to gaming. At least that's my opinion.
What was it that the Masterer said in Pure Pwnage? "A true pwner owns all games. If one wants to truly pwn, one must pwn in all games." That holds truth and I believe at it's core that it defines how much of a gamer someone is. LN appears to be kind of varied by looking at his weekly hours, but by looking at his total hours it appears he was a WoW addict and is currently a CSS addict. He has more total hours for both WoW and CSS than I do for my top game, but after the 840 hours of CSS it takes a nosedive to a game with 33 hours, which is clearly a sign of single-game (or two-game) addiction. By the way, I've found out that WoW players (I don't know how many) easily inflate their hours by keeping the game running at the login screen while sleeping (my sister does it all the time), so I don't really trust WoW hours to be very accurate to true play time. I might not have as many total hours this week as LN, but I'm not far behind and I've always been considerably more varied and never stay addicted to any one game for really long. Sorry for the statistical bash, but that's how I roll. Oh, and Lkr, you aren't even close to me in any form of gaming hours. You sort of pwned yourself with what you said. Just because I'm silly enough to waste the time doing the math, here's the stats I gathered for the three of us plus ShadowMarth for good measure. Quote:
Soooo... We need an admin to make that PC gaming forum/board. Last edited by Pilot_51; 08-01-2008 at 01:10 PM. |

I think the general gaming board does it pretty well, but a PC board sounds like a good idea nevertheless. And that's slightly emasculating. My Xfire profile, when shown to casual gamers or *gasp* normal people, makes them immediately think of me as some sort of gaming god. I think they just don't keep track of how many hours they spend on their hobbies. Heck, my classmates refused to let me play Halo 3 against them, because they figured I'd kick their ass. I don't even own a 360.
And Lkr, seriously, glance at his profile before you make statements like that. His profiles shows a great variety of games which he has played in a great extent. He's a true PC gamer, you and LN are just CS and WoW players, which in my opinion about makes you Casual in terms of PC gaming. Looking at his profile even makes me embarrassed of my own. |
