Debate Forum!

If you got three great posters (including me....not really ._.) asking for a Debate Forum, I think it'll be fun! And it's good to get away from the (sorry but it's the truth) nerdy/kiddie subjects.

Yup, I want a debate forum.

Of course, us mods would have to monitor that forum particularly more so because of the greater chances of rule violations, etc. But, I think it would be a good idea to at least try.

I would like having a debate forum. However there could be many problems that could be associated with it. Plus, I don't think religion should be one of the debate topics.

Maybe you could make it so only forum regulars could access the board. Forum regulars know the rules and the punishments for breaking the rules. This would result in less flaming and fighting. New members, on the other hand, may be young. They might not know that there are rules on forums. I think that new members should have to "prove" themselves before gaining access to the board. New members that post intelligently and respect other board members should be given access, but members that disrupt the forum, like daley, should not have access.

Anyway, that's just my opinion.

A debate board would be cool, I like debating to an extent (until I run out of good points and the other guy hasn't). Moderators would definitely be needed, but an automated system (like the bad word bleeper I've noticed) would be a big help, although it might need more words added. I agree with Musical's idea, have a usergroup that admins can add approved good members, which gives them access to such forums where problems can easily arise with disruptive members, usergroups can be a very useful tool for keeping things in order without a load of extra moderation requirements. I say let's give it a shot and make sure we take proper precautions.
