New Members Forum

I was discussing this with Chuddy. I think it'd be nice to have a separate forum for new members to introduce themselves. It's always diffiult, as a new member, to find a place to introduce yourself to everyone.

So, how'z 'bout it, guys? A new "introduction" forum. Of course, it'll be heavily moderated. It'll probably start slow at first, but I'm sure it would expand in the future.

Or, if you're completely against the idea, why not suggest ideas for another forum to add?

I think it's a good idea, rather than having the Lounge with plenty of "hi" topics...

I can only hope that this section of the forum would be well used ;)

Yeah I think its a pretty good idea also. It gets kinda annoying seeing HI topics everywhere. Before I add the board I want to get more views on this, don't want to make anybody unhappy now do I :P

I think it's a lousy idea. People who needs "oh hi"-topics are just useless attention-whores I'd rather just be without anyway (generalization rocks, by the way). Just sharpen up the moderation and strike down on people not willing to adjust.

Why do you think this would become a problem? I known lots of forums without Hello-forums that are doing just great. It's not as if it's a problem for the moderators to just delete the damn posts, or as if it's a problem for one of the admins to rewrite the rules a bit (which should be read before posting in the forum anyway).

My point remains valid: It's not needed.

Let me introduce you to what I like to call Pre-Judgement, Baronen-Style. If the new member is to braindead to read the rules (in which it would be specified that one shouldn't make threads or posts with nothing but "hi, I'm new"), one could automatically make the assumption that the person would be an idiot. If he, however, would instead prove his worth by contributing to the forum in a real way, one could assume that he was a member worth caring for. Or something.
