I believe the original purpose of a shoutbox was for stuff like comments about the site it's on and not for conversations.

There's a few lines that grab my attention though, some stuff that our shoutbox can't do that it should be able to do that I actually suggested a couple weeks ago.

I suggested automatically deleting after about 20 posts, mostly because I seem to be the one person most concerned about the database and server speed. I also suggested flood control of the simple type such as allowing only one post every 10 sec for any one person, another reason for that was to pull some attention from the shoutbox and back into forums. It also turns out we don't have very good if any IP address/impostor detection.
