I can think of two or three people that haven't expressed that they didn't do it that could've done it.
I stick to my opinion of 100x100 100KB max for everyone, maybe 50KB or 25KB if you want to be ultra friendly to dial-up users.

Apparently some people do, from what I've heard from one of the higher ups. I'm still surprised dial-up hasn't quite died out yet, unfortunately it's due to many rural areas not having cable service.

I'm sympathetic to the dialup peeps, but I think the amount of 'em left is low enough that broadbanders have a right to not be incovenienced by 'em. Dialup users will just have to disable avatars if they don't want to wait.

But you know, we can go 100x100 without removing the 20kb restriction...so I don't see an issue with avatars really...

The only real reason to bump up the KB is for animated avatars, which I find to be eye-glue most of the time. I had a 600KB animated avatar once and sevaral people commented that they liked it or couldn't stop watching it. But all in all, we wouldn't want avatars taking minutes of time away from people that should be reading and posting.

600KB is a little, no, WAY to excessive. Like, no more than 100, I would say under 50 actually...

It was like a 1 minute long animation, that's why it glued everyone to it. I agree though, 600KB is way too big for just an avatar, I just didn't care back then because I was too proud of hosting it on my own server.

I have dial-up!!! Well anyway, just save your 100x100 avatar as a gif, they always seems to be below the maximum file size so they work...just look at my avatar.

i added the wifi world radio as a subforum in the lounge, you can listen to game and anime music on it, all you need to do is download winamp, realplayer, or itunes. the server is nearly always up but a DJ may or may not be available. its currently up right now with a DJ, so have a listen.
