usergroups

hey you know the "usergroups" up there next to "memberlist" and "profile"? what is it for?

It can be used for groups. For example, on this site the admin could make a usergroup entitled "Staff" and put people who he wants on staff in that usergroup. Then he could enable the usergroup "Staff" as mods for each forum. There are also other things you can do such as make a staff forum and only people in a certain hidden usergroup can see it.

Usergroups are a way in which board administrators can group users. Each user can belong to several groups (this differs from most other boards) and each group can be assigned individual access rights. This makes it easy for administrators to set up several users as moderators of a forum, or to give them access to a private forum, etc."

i still don't see what the point of it is. is it only for mods?
