There should be a BIOS option to change that, my desktop has temperature safety features in BIOS.
You might also want to get a CPU temperature monitor. The one I use is called
Motherboard Monitor, which monitors not only temperature of CPU, case, and other devices with temp monitoring such as hard drives, video cards, and RAM, but also fan speeds and voltages, and offers a highest/lowest/average log, alarm options, and emergency shutdown features. It might be a bit advanced for casual users though.
