I only dislike cheats when it's used in multiplayer or before beating the game, I'm fine with using cheats in single player after beating it, especially when it adds a little more play value. There's many games I've played that have no cheats and I never played it again once I beat it. True, cheats like unlimited ammo and health make a game less challenging which in turn often makes it less fun, but that's why you're supposed to wait until after you beat it.
I think it would be great if developers left out the cheat codes and made it so you can only use those cheats once you beat the game to unlock them, that would greatly increase the completion rate of gamers.
Most multiplayer cheats are server side, so it's not unfair, but it sort of has the same affect as single player cheats when you don't join regular servers because you're too used to the cheats. Client side cheats are of coarse very bad, people that use them don't deserve to be called gamers let alone playing any games period.
